Radio France – Iran is set to free an American detainee, one of three hikers held in captivity for more than a year. The Iranian Ministry of Culture says the release ceremony will take place at the Hotel Esteghlal in Tehran at 9 a.m. this Saturday.
Iran will release American hiker Sarah Shourd “very soon,” an Iranian diplomat at the United Nations announced on Thursday.

Radio France – French police are looking into the suspicious deaths of 4,800 chickens. The birds apparently died of fear when two jet fighters flew over a Brittany farm.An autopsy carried out on several of the victims has shown that they were alive before the planes passed overhead.

Egyptian authorities are still searching for a painting by the Dutch artist Vincent Van Gogh stolen from a Cairo museum, a day after mistakenly saying it had been recovered.
